Inactive Status Guidelines
Registered Psychologists and Psychological Associates, who wish to temporarily
inactivate their PAM membership may do so, according to the guidelines listed
below. Please be aware that Inactive Status is time-limited and must receive prior
PAM Executive Council approval before coming into effect. Applications to
inactivate a membership will be considered on a case by case basis. Please
contact the Registrar (pam@mymts.net) if you wish to inactivate your membership.
Guidelines:
- Only Psychologist and Psychological Associate
members are eligible;
- Inactive status is for a minimum of six months;
- Inactive status is for a maximum of two years;
- Must be requested in writing and in advance of the
annual renewal (once fees are paid they are not
refunded, but a reduced/prorated fee can be paid in
advance/anticipation of inactive status);
- A minimum fee of $100 per year or part (not prorated)
will be assessed to inactivate a membership;
- No CE requirement during inactive status (prorated if
less than one year);
- Member must notify PAM immediately if they resume
professional practice, or be subject to disciplinary
action;
- No practice as a psychologist or psychological
associate is permitted while inactive. This includes
provision of psychological services, consultation,
supervision, teaching of psychology, public
presentations as a psychologist, etc. For the purposes
of inactive status, "practice" will be interpreted to mean
any activity which could reasonably be construed as
psychological, or for which a complaint could be made
to the Psychological Association of Manitoba or any
other psychology regulatory board;
- If the member is registered/licensed as a psychologist
or psychological associate in another jurisdiction, and
is actively practicing in that jurisdiction, they are not
eligible for inactive status. In those cases "out-of
province psychologist" would be the appropriate
category of registration.
